
The article will describe the various ways in which dry eye and ocular surface disease can be managed in optometric practice. The risks, benefits and limitations of each management strategy will be discussed. Readers will be encouraged to develop a management plan in accordance with the results of their assessment of the tear film and ocular surface.

Jennifer is the Senior Lecturer in Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Auckland. Qualifying as an Optometrist in 1992, in 1995 Jennifer was awarded a PhD entitled Tear Physiology in the Normal and Dry Eye. She has delivered continuing education lectures to Optometrists for many years, and research papers at numerous international scientific conferences. She has published her work in both the scientific and clinical press, and is co-author of the textbook, The Tear Film.
Successful completion of the multiple choice test is worth 2 CET points. This CET is approved for optometrists and contact lens opticians.
